6 months of marriage-

Just a quick walk down memory lane- especially for all of you who are new to the SponLife Blog-

soooo.... 6 months of married life- and 7 months pregnant- you may wonder HOW? does that happen.... well rest assured- I was not pregnant at the wedding- but the way these doctors calculate all this 9 month stuff (which you are really pregnant for 10 months- hellloooo 40 weeks?) anyhow- it's not important- let's recap.

Below you will find just a few of my favorite moments- there are sooo many- but too many to put them all here-

Cody and I met in 2005 floating the river in New Bransfels (actually we met on this same river in 2004- but were "re- acquainted" in 2005)
ahhhh...... young love.....

Cody and I got engaged on Valentines Day (well Feb. 15th, 2008)
We kicked off the wedding planning season with a great Engagement Party at Uncle Billy's.

A few months later- Cody and I headed up to Lubbock (C's home town) to celebrate at a Luau with all of his hometown buddies!

Is that lipstick?

We finished off 2008 with Engagment pictures- can you believe it? Oct 2008 we were taking engagement pictures- Oct 2009 we are awaiting the arrival of CJ! what a year!

At the start of 2009- the planning was in full swing! We got the party started with a Mardi Gras Crawfish Boil shower- TONS of fun!

Then my mom and I took the girls on a Texas Wine Tour-

Amanda! really! keep it clean!

Bachelor/ Bachelorette parties were soon to follow. Us girls headed out to Nashville- I think that town is still talking about us!

yes- that's Bill Belemy!

One of my favs- too funny!

We had Rehearal Dinner-

We would soon learn about the Toast Master MC Justin!

WEDDING TIME

The day begins-

Getting ready-

the boys-

The girls-

Finally down the asile-

Amanda caught the bouquet- can you tell which one she is? haha! But the myth must be true- becuase she was the next one to get engaged!

What a night! Off we went- as newlyweds!

Then honeymoon- Curacao-

Aruba-

Then baby-

And now- our house is almost done- baby will be here before we know it- it's all been somewhat surreal and just a whole whirlwind of fun. I have seriously had a smile across my face for the most part of the past 18 months-

Not to get sentimental or anything- but really- A BIG thank you to all of our friends and family that have stood by us and helped make all of this possible. Just looking back at these pictures makes me smile, makes me laugh- and I am looking forward to spending the next 100 years with my husband, my family, and all of our wonderful friends.

Wedding + 2 week Honeymoon = Baby!

WOW! So we had thought about this, we had talked about this, we had "planned" this- but really.... making a baby- there's only so much one can do (or I guess it takes 2) But really?? one week back from the honeymoon- we have the positive test! I mean- I guess we knew that this could happen... we weren't exactly doing anything to prevent it from happening... but my girlfriends that have been trying for months- I thought for sure that would be me too.
So we are excited to announce our soon- to- be new addition to the family! I can only imagine the stories that will be told here now..... goodness- surly we'll have some fun entertainment from this adventure!

Honeymoon- Aruba

So back on the propeller plane- leaving Curacao and off to Aruba! Right off the back- much more activity on this island. Nightlife, restaurants, shops, you name it. This island is expensive- I mean- $40 for a case of beer expensive. Everything in Aruba is imported- everything. So it was crazy that a case a Miller Lite cost the same as a case of Corona or the same as the "local" beer Amstel. (which isn't local- it's made in Holland- but Aruba use to be owned by Holland) And since we had a full kitchen in our room- we figured getting some essentials from the grocery store would be the smartest way to go. (and it was!)

Anyhow- we were a little more laid back on this island. Spent more time relaxing and walking the beach. My favorite outings:

MoomBa Beach- was just a lot of fun. Live music out on the beach and then a DJ came on to keep the party going. Here we discovered that Patron shots were $10- that's about what they cost back home! (I think this was the only thing that we found priced that way) Anyhow- the beer was cold, the music was great, and watching everyone dance out on the beach was so fun that of course we had to join in!

We also treated ourselves to an awesome dinner on the beach. The Flying Fish Bone was great. The tables were right on the water, each table had a shoe hook so everyone was barefoot, we watched the sunset, and then ate by candle light- the food and wine was incredible. Very romantic.

Overall- it was hard for Aruba to live up to Curacao for us. Aruba was much more commercialized and expensive. Where as Curacao was more of an untouched paradise. Our honeymoon was great- spending 2 weeks without work, kids, cell phones, computers, or alarm clocks was the best part. At the same time, we couldn't wait to get back home to the kids, the dogs, and our friends. (probably could've gone without going back to work and all that other stuff- hehe!)

Honeymoon Curacao

And we are off! We actually had to go back to work for one week after the wedding and then we left for our honeymoon. First stop Curacao. We flew from TX to Atlanta, and then to Aruba, where we caught- and I am NOT kidding here- a propeller plane to Curacao. I was very nervous about this flight. I mean- can these little planes land in water? No seat assignments. No flight attendants. No carry ons! (unless it was your purse- since there was no storage in the cabin, they stored the carry ons underneath the plane) Crazy! Luckily enough, the flight was so short, by the time we took off, filled out the customs documentation, it was already time to land. I have to say- it was a good flight- much better than I expected.
When we arrived in Curacao, we grabbed a cold beer and hopped in a taxi headed for the hotel. We decided to do an all inclusive package on this leg of the trip- so we were excited to able to eat, drink, and be lazy all around the resort as we wanted to.
BTW- I not only had a "Just Married" tank on, but we had mentioned to the flight attendant that we were on our honeymoon- NO- no upgrades on that one. So when we checked into our hotel, we mentioned it again- again- NO- special treatment for us.

I only tell this because we met another couple, who were tons of fun! But they had told the hotel they were on their honeymoon and not only was their room upgraded but when they got to their room there was roses and champagne in there! (and of course, they were not on their honeymoon) hmmm... no biggie :)

Anyhow- about this couple- E & L, they were from Brazil and like I said, a lot of fun. They immediately asked all of the general Texas questions and referred to C as "Cowboy" for the rest of the trip- haha!

Our favorite Curacao outing was going to Klein Curacao. It was a 2 hour catamaran ride out to a deserted island that was truly paradise. It was the most beautiful place that we have ever been. No electricity, no inhabitants, just some huts for shade, an old abandoned light house, white beach, teal blue water, and sea turtles to snorkel with. PARADISE!

Wedding Day! 4/11/09

WOW! What a day. It was great. Of course, we got a little off of our timeline, that my MOH made (who always runs late) - but then believe it or not- we were both running late. Or as she puts it "actually on time, since she lied on the timeline" But then we were off to make up, and others were doing hair- and then we all switched. Worked great! The boys on the other hand.... out drinking beer, running late, hadn't delivered important things to the venue- I tell you- I thought I was going to loose it! All this planning and time lining I had spent time on putting together- just thrown out the window. Thankfully everything came together and in true wedding chaos style- we walked down the aisle, said our "I do's" and the party started!

We had a blast and it's true what they say- the time flies by. All of my girls and I had a great time trying to synchronize our celebration jumps out on the beach, the Hubs was doing some serious breaking it down on the dance floor, we did the Grand March (thanks to Grand March Master "A"), garters and bouquets were tossed and fought over- ha ha! Before you know it, it was last dance, sparklers were lit and we were heading to our get-a-way car. We couldn't have asked for a better day, better friends and family.
