Christmas- Birthday- New Years- and random stuff

I understand I am a little behind on the end of the year stuff- but I have good excuses.... right??? Anyhow- Christmas was great! Cody and I enjoyed some quiet time together- and then when the kiddos came home on the 26th- we got to do Christmas all over again! Jessica even came over and played Santa! She is such a sweetie- she definitely spoiled all of us- even the dogs!
Our New Year's Eve was a little less eventful- I think Cody was the only one who made it up until midnight. Me and the kids fell asleep- we wanted to make sure we were well rested! New Year's Day we went and saw Avatar in 3D!! It was great!

Then we celebrated my "ketchup brother" Justin's birthday. Dinner at Buca di Beppo- yumm! Followed by some cake with blue icing! The waitress warned us that the blue icing could stain.... hmmmmm- can you see who didn't listen to her warning? We laughed SO hard at Dax and his blue mouth!

After filling our bellies we headed to Main Event for some bowling, video games, and good times! Hope you had a very Happy Birthday Justin!!!
Watch out for Wade on the punching bag game! No broken hands this time around!
So sorry for the quick "recap" of Holiday Festivities- but at least I got most of it on here- now we just wait for CJ to arrive and then we get to celebrate some more!

38 weeks- Whoa!

So we've made it 38 weeks- the end is near- the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight- we could cross the finish line at anytime..... you get the point. I still think we'll at least hold out until after Christmas- but who knows???

How far along? 38 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: do we really need to discuss this? I mean- it's the holidays- and there are goodies around every corner and that sure isn't helping anything here!

Body Changes? belly is BIG- it's "out there" belly button is flat- haha!

Sleep: up 3 times a night to pee- up every few minutes to flip sides or to make sure CJ is still moving... or to steal my pillow back from Cody!

Best moment this week: It's Christmas time!! and we went on a romantic dinner to Truluck's (thanks Steinbargers!) and it was EXCELLENT!

Food Cravings: I don't even have time to "crave" because there is food everywhere!

What I miss: I am ready to go shopping for me- shop for clothes, shoes, etc...

Symptoms:Restless Leg syndrome- ugh! it sucks! and I have a splotchy belly- see....

What I am looking forward to: I can't wait to see the kiddos open Christmas gifts- to ring in the New Year and to see when we will be celebrating a NEW birthday!

Milestones: thank you cards are done! Car seat is at home (in house- but still....) Pack-n-play is ready to go- CJ's clothes are washed and put away- swing is all put together- slowly but surely that check list is getting smaller and smaller.
We haven't hung anything on the walls yet- but here are some pictures- living room with furniture in it! yay! and stockings hung up! and there are 7- yes- SEVEN- stockings- OMG- there are getting to be too many! But that's for 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs- WOW!

And here is the start of CJ's room- still waiting for some decor- but we'll get there- no worries!

Winter Wonderland- Why so hot?

So for those of you that know me- I am sure you are aware of my awesome singing skills! I know the correct words to almost any song. So you can understand why I was baffled this holiday season when I learned that I had been singing (or belting out) a tune using the wrong word.

ok- for those of you that really know me.... or if you are part of my family- you are probably rolling your eyes and laughing pretty hard right now.... ok ok I confess- I have been known to get a few words wrong in a song- every now and again- BUT in my defense- my words usually make more sense!

As in the case here-

So....

The song: Winter Wonderland

The Lyrics:
He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you're in town

Later on, we'll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

The second verse here is where we have the dispute. OK- who "conspires" while they dream by the fire??? I mean- really- what does that even mean? Conspires what?

It makes WAAAAYYYY more sense that you would "perspire" as you sit (or dream) by the fire. I mean- come on! the fire is HOT!

Try it out- sing it with MY words in it- it totally goes way better! Trust me- we now have a fire place in our new house- and not ONE time have I sat by it to "conspire"- anytime I sit by it- it's a for sure "perspire".

You don't have to take my word for it people- go sit by your own fire and just see what happens.

I have to admit- it's a good thing I looked up these lyrics- I found a few more that make no sense- *sigh* I guess until they see my side of this I will have to correct some of my singing.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!!! STAY SAFE AND WARM (not perspire warm- but you know... cozy and warm)

Belly Shots

We had a great time taking these pictures! You only get once chance to photograph yourself during your 1st pregnancy-so why not?? We were really happy with the way they turned out. My make up is rocking- thanks to Miss Masters! and as always Matt Montalvo does a great job capturing the moment. It's pretty cool that he has done our engagement photo session, my bridals, our wedding- and now these! Hopefully we can get him to do some newborn shots too.

Take a look and let me know what you think!

I know I know- you have all missed me so much…. Right? Well rest assured- all is good in the Brooks’ household. We have just been so super busy unpacking and trying to get all settled in- that we have lost a little bit of touch with the outside world.

We are in the house- and slowly but surely it is actually starting to feel like a home! In fact- we have so many empty boxes lying around we don’t even know what to do with them~!

This past weekend we had our baby shower! And it was a BLAST! Who knew baby showers could be so much fun. In fact, I think one of Cody’s friends made the comment that we will have to have more babies- just so that we can have more baby showers…. Hmmm watch out boys! Let’s don’t get too ahead of ourselves!

But really- we had lots of fun! We are a pretty competitive group-so I should have known how the games would go- I think there was some trickery going on with the “Cant say baby or boy game” and Keith was totally not playing fair! And once Shelly stacked up with everyone pins- she wasn’t even talking. Haha! But in the end- Phillip walked away with the most baby pins- since he stole mine!

The hostess- with the mostest- of course!

I tell ya- watching boys chug beer out of baby bottles is just one funny site. Justin bit a hole in his nipple-and I am pretty sure that was grounds for disqualification- But he was just so proud that he won!

After that came the game that stole the night- That was having them- the boys- see how many marshmallows they could stuff in their mouths- and still be able to say “Baby Brooks” I think I, along with many others, nearly peed ourselves laughing so hard! All of the boys with their chipmunk cheeks full of jumbo sized marshmallows- HILARIOUS! Wade was the winner with 8- yes- EIGHT- jumbo marshmallows stuffed in there! I was convinced that at any second we were going to all be sprayed with marshmallow cream.

The food was excellent- yummy! In fact we ate our “to go” plate the very next day! The UT football game was EXCITING! Need I say more? I mean we were all on the edge of our seats for that! It was even suggested that we name CJ- Hunter or McCoy or Colt- lol! With all the excitement- it kicked off the Flip Cup competition- and it was on!

What a fun night- I know that Cody had a blast and I loved how the hostesses made sure he felt involved for the whole night. He sure was a proud Daddy! Cody and I feel so lucky to have I such wonderful friends to host and to attend the party- it truly is a celebration of life- and I was glad to have everyone there. Of course- I think the myth goes- that the guy that ended up with the most baby pins- is whose wife will get pregnant next! Watch out Tracie and Phillip! I love celebrating all of these life events with everyone. Engagements- Weddings and Babies- it’s just magical. And coming up next I can’t wait to celebrate CJ’s arrival and introduce him to our wonderful world of friends!

Speaking of…. Well this week I turn 9 months! WOW!! And with all the talk about the “Blue/ Full Moon” on New Year’s this year- I guess we just better be ready at anytime! We will be sure to keep everyone on their toes- hehe! But really- we will update the blog, send texts, and lots of pictures- so be ready!
